The sold-out West End production of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith’s Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright is heading out on a UK tour.
Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright is now in its final week at the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre in London, playing until 5 April 2025.
The tour will open at Milton Keynes Theatre on 9 September 2025, and travels to a further 10 venues including Sunderland, Canterbury, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Woking, Hull, Oxford, Stoke-on-Trent, and Manchester.
The tour of Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright will star the creators and stars of the TV series, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, with a different celebrity ‘hostage’ performing at each night. The West End run included cameos from Stephen Fry, Lenny Henry, Mel Giedroyc, Matt Lucas, Michael Sheen, Tamsin Greig, Adrian Dunbar, Bob Mortimer, David Walliams, Micky Flanagan, Meera Syal, Mackenzie Crook, Emilia Fox and Rob Brydon, as well as many others.
Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith said in a statement: “We have been bowled over by the success of Inside No 9 Stage / Fright at the Wyndham’s Theatre. Selling out every performance before the run started and being nominated for an Olivier Award was fantastic enough, but the nightly reaction from fans and newcomers alike has been exhilarating and really quite moving. So we are delighted to be able to bring the show to a wider audience around the country. The phrase ‘swan-song’ refers to a final performance, often associated with the ancient belief that swans sing beautifully just before their death. Which is a load of bollocks of course as all swans do is shit and honk. So come along to the swan-song tour of Inside No 9 and see for yourselves how we bow out. There won’t be a dry seat in the house.”
The current West End run cast features Anna Francolini, Rebecca Bainbridge, Mark Extance, Gaby French, Miranda Hennessy, Bhav Joshi, Toby Manley and Christina Tedders. Further casting for the tour is to be announced.
The show opened in January and got great reviews from the London critics, including four stars from the FT, Guardian, Telegraph, Sunday Times, TimeOut, Express, and more.
Based on the award-winning TV comedy series Inside No. 9, this newly written stage show features comedic, spooky and dramatic moments, with some familiar characters and stories mixing with brand new material.
Directed by Simon Evans, the creative team also includes Set designer Grace Smart, Costume designer Yves Barre, Lighting designer Neil Austin, Sound designer Ed Lewis, Illusionist John Bulleid, and Video and projection by Duncan McLean.
Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright is playing at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London until 5 April 2025, and then touring. Tickets go on sale from 2 April 2025.
