The Theatre Royal Bath has announced further casting for Grace Pervades by David Hare.
Grace Pervades is part of a three-production season for 2025 programmed by actor and director Ralph Fiennes.
This world premiere of David Hare’s new play will star Ralph Fiennes (Conclave; Harry Potter; James Bond; Macbeth, London and New York) as Henry Irving, alongside Miranda Raison (Spooks; Anne Boleyn at the Globe Theatre; The WInter’s Tale at the Garrick Theatre) as Ellen Terry.
The ensemble cast includes Sharif Afifi, Tom Kanji, Harriet Leitch, Ashley McGuire, Jordan Metcalfe, Jo Mousley, Damian Myerscough, Guy Paul, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Saskia Strallen, and Kathryn Wilder.
Grace Pervades tells the extraordinary story of Henry Irving and Ellen Terry, the greatest stars of the Victorian stage, and Ellen’s troubled and brilliant children – Edith Craig and Edward Gordon Craig – who made their own profound contribution to the development of British theatre. Ralph Fiennes will play Henry Irving.
The production is directed by Jeremy Herrin (Long Day’s Journey Into Night), and is a co-production with his company Second Half Productions.
The production’s creative team features set designer Bob Crowley, costume designer Fotini Dimou, lighting designer Peter Mumford, sound designer Elizabeth Purnell, composer Paul Englishby, casting director Jessica Ronane CDG, associate director Joe Lichtenstein, and movement director Lucy Cullingford.
Grace Pervades is playing from 27 June to 19 July 2025 at the Theatre Royal Bath.
The season also includes William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, from 15 August to 6 September 2025, directed by Ralph Fiennes and starring Ian Charleson Award winner Gloria Obianyo (King Lear) as Rosalind and Harriet Walter (House of Bernarda Alba, Succession) as Jaques. The final production in the season will be Small Hotel by Oscar-winning writer Rebecca Lenkiewicz, starring Ralph Fiennes.
