It has been a big week for West End casting updates, with a number of major shows announcing cast changes.
Chief among them was Wicked for its 2025-2026 season, a new cast for Six The Musical, a new lead for Back to the Future, the first ever West End cast for My Neighbour Totoro, plus Dracula A Comedy of Terrors, Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical, The Score starring Brian Cox, Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright and more.Â
Wicked: Zizi Strallen & Emma Kingston to star in Wicked in the West End
Award-winning West End musical Wicked has announced new casting from March 2025, including West End star Zizi Strallen (Mary Poppins) as Glinda, and Emma Kingston (Heathers) as Elphaba, alongside Carl Man (& Juliet) as Fiyero, Sarah Ingram (Legally Blonde) as Madame Morrible, Michael Matus (Singin’ in the Rain) as The Wizard, Hannah Qureshi (Hamilton) as Nessarose, David McKechnie (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) as Doctor Dillamond, and Ross Carpenter (The Book of Mormon) as Boq. Wicked is booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre to 4 January 2026.
Back to the Future: Caden Brauch to star as Marty McFly in London
Movie-to-stage musical Back to the Future in London has a brand new star for the show. American actor Caden Brauch, who has just finished performing in the US tour of Back to the Future, will join the London company as Marty McFly at the Adelphi Theatre from 10 February 2025.
Six The Musical: New 2025 & 2026 cast announced for the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre
A new cast is joining acclaimed show Six The Musical for 2025 & 2026 at the Vaudeville Theatre in London. The new cast starts on 18 February 2025 and features Jaz Robinson as Catherine of Aragon, Hana Stewart as Jane Seymour, Caitlyn De Kuyper as Katherine Howard and Amelia Kinu Muus as Catherine Parr; and returning will be Thao Therese Nguyen as Anne Boleyn, and Dionne Ward-Anderson as Anna of Cleves.
My Neighbour Totoro: The first ever West End cast announced
Casting has been announced for the West End transfer of My Neighbour Totoro, following its two sold out seasons at the Barbican Theatre. The Olivier Award-winning show from the RSC is transferring to the West End’s Gillian Lynne Theatre, from 8 March to 2 November 2025, including Victoria Chen (The Night Before Christmas) as Mei, Ami Okumura Jones (Scandaltown) as Mei’s older sister Satsuki, Dai Tabuchi (Usagi Yojimbo) as their father Tatsuo, Jacqueline Tate (Murder on the Orient Express) as Granny, and Ai Ninomiya (Les Misérables) as the Singer.
Dracula, A Comedy Of Terrors: Charlie Stemp & Dianne Pilkington to star
Hit Off-Broadway show Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors has announced casting ahead of its London premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory (8 March to 3 May 2025). The show will star James Daly (La Cage aux Folles, Wendy and Peter Pan) as Dracula after originating the role Off-Broadway; award-winning West End star Dianne Pilkington (The Wizard of Oz, Young Frankenstein, Wicked) as Dr. Westfeldt and others; three-time Olivier Award-nominee Charlie Stemp (Kiss Me Kate, Crazy For You) as Jonathan Harker and others; and Safeena Ladha (The 39 Steps, The Great Gatsby) as Lucy Westfeldt and others.
Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical casting announced for London’s West End & Toronto
Casting has been announced for new West End show Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical, following its successful run at The Old Vic Theatre last year. The musical starts at the West End’s Shaftesbury Theatre in May 2025, following a North American premiere in Toronto. Already announced in the cast is Craige Els (Doctor Who, Matilda The Musical), who originated the role of Bob Geldof at The Old Vic, and he is joined by a cast that includes Julie Atherton as Margaret Thatcher; Tim Mahendran as Harvey Goldsmith; Rhianne-Louise McCaulsky as Amara; George Ure as Midge Ure; and more.
The Score starring Brian Cox – West End cast announced
Casting has been announced for the West End transfer of The Score starring legendary stage and screen actor Brian Cox (HBO’s Succession) and his real life wife Nicole Ansari-Cox (Deadwood). Written by Oliver Cotton (Diamond Geezer) and directed by Trevor Nunn (Les Misérables), The Score premiered to critical acclaim at Theatre Royal Bath in October 2023, and plays the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London from 20 February 2025 to 26 April 2025.
Unicorn: Full casting & creatives to join Nicola Walker, Stephen Mangan & Erin Doherty
The full cast and creative team have been revealed for Unicorn at the Garrick Theatre in London, the latest play from acclaimed writer Mike Bartlett (Doctor Foster, Life). Unicorn is running at the West End’s Garrick Theatre in London from 4 February to 26 April 2025. Already announced are the show’s principal characters, with Nicola Walker (Unforgotten) starring as Polly and Stephen Mangan (Episodes) as her husband Nick, who are reuniting following playing husband and wife in high-rating TV drama The Split. They are joined by Erin Doherty (Princess Anne in The Crown) as Kate.
Inside No.9 Stage/Fright cast announced to join Steve Pemberton & Reece Shearsmith
The world premiere stage production of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith’s Inside No.9 Stage/Fright has announced full casting. Joining Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith on stage will be West End star Anna Francolini (Rome, Twelfth Night, Strictly Ballroom), with Rebecca Bainbridge, Mark Extance, Gaby French, Miranda Hennessy, Bhav Joshi, Toby Manley and Christina Tedders. The new show will run at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London from 16 January to 5 April 2025.
Macbeth full cast announced for London’s Lyric Hammersmith Theatre
ETT (English Touring Theatre) has announced full casting for Macbeth, coming to the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in London. Directed by ETT’s Artistic Director Richard Twyman, the production stars Alex Austin as Macbeth and Lois Chimimba as Lady Macbeth, with Gabriel Akuwudike as Banquo, Bella Aubin as Malcolm, David Colvin as Lennox, Ammar Haj Ahmad as Macduff, Daniel Hawksford as Duncan, Bianca Stephens as Lady Macduff, and Sophie Stone as Ross. Macbeth is running at the Lyric Hammersmith from 28 February to 29 March 2025.
