Casting has been announced for the West End transfer of The Score starring legendary stage and screen actor Brian Cox.
The star of HBO’s Succession plays Johann Sebastian Bach alongside his real life wife Nicole Ansari-Cox (Deadwood), playing Bach’s wife Anna.
They are joined by Peter De Jersey as Voltaire, Juliet Garricks as Emilia, Stephen Hagan as Frederick, Jamie Wilkes as Carl, Christopher Staines as Quantz, Toby Webster as Benda, Matthew Romain as Graun and James Gladdon as Helstein, with Geoffrey Towers, Jordan Kilshaw and Rebecca Thornhill. Further cast members are to be announced.
Written by Oliver Cotton (Diamond Geezer) and directed by the acclaimed Trevor Nunn (Les Misérables), The Score premiered to critical acclaim at Theatre Royal Bath in October 2023. Read a round-up of reviews from Bath here.
Set in Potsdam, Prussia in 1747, the play follows Johann Sebastian Bach as he reluctantly visits the court of Frederick II, one of Europe’s most ambitious and dangerous leaders. What unfolds in the days that follow will change both men forever.
The Score runs at Theatre Royal Haymarket, London, from 20 February 2025 to 26 April 2025.
