Smash-hit London show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has hit a new milestone, selling more than 3 million tickets at the West End’s Palace Theatre since it debuted in 2016.
The acclaimed show, which is a sequel to the Harry Potter books and set 19 years after Harry, Ron and Hermione’s final adventure, sold over half a million tickets last year alone, with Forbes reporting that 544,257 tickets were purchased.
In July 2024, the show celebrated 8 years in the West End.
The London production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently split into two parts. The Broadway show recently reduced the run time of its one-part-only version of the show to under 3 hours.
The show has an original story by acclaimed playwright Jack Thorne (The Motive and the Cue – National Theatre, A Christmas Carol – The Old Vic), and is directed by John Tiffany.
The London cast currently stars David Ricardo-Pearce as Harry Potter, with Claire Lams as Ginny Potter and Ellis Rae as their son Albus Potter. Thomas Aldridge stars as Ron Weasley with Jade Ogugua as Hermione Granger, and Eve De Leon Allen as their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley. Steve John Shepherd plays Draco Malfoy, with Harry Acklowe as his son Scorpius Malfoy.
The show is produced by West End and Broadway impresario Sonia Friedman Productions (The Book of Mormon, Mean Girls, Oedipus) and Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment (Wolf Hall).
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently booking at the Palace Theatre to 29 June 2025.
