The Almeida Theatre’s acclaimed production of A Streetcar Named Desire has confirmed its West End run at the Noel Coward Theatre in London, before transferring to New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music.
As revealed at the weekend, the production will once again star Olivier Award winner and Oscar nominee Paul Mescal (Gladiator II, All of Us Strangers, Normal People) as Stanley, and it has now been announced that Olivier Award winners Patsy Ferran (Summer & Smoke) as Blanche, Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts, Brace Brace) as Stella, and Dwane Walcott (One Night in Miami) as Harold ‘Mitch’ Mitchell will all also reprise their roles.
Other casting includes Eduardo Ackerman (Pablo Gonzales), Rob Dempsey (Understudy Drummer/Doctor), Janet Etuk (Eunice Hubbel), Alexander Eliot (Steve Hubbel/Understudy Stanley Kowalski/Harold “Mitch” Mitchell), Gabriela Garcia (Flower Seller/Nurse/Singer/Understudy Stella Kowalski), Francesca Knight (Understudy Blanche Dubois/Eunice Hubbel), Tom Penn (Doctor/Drummer), Curtis Patrick (Understudy Young Collector/Steve Hubbel/Pablo Gonzales), Constanza Ruff (Understudy Flower Seller/Nurse/Singer) and Jabez Sykes (Young Collector).
Directed by Rebecca Frecknall (Cabaret), the show will play the Noël Coward Theatre from 3 to 22 February 2025, before transferring to New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) from 28 February to 6 April 2025.
The production was a sensation in London, scoring impressive reviews from the critics, including five-stars from The Times, The Sunday Times, The Observer, and The i. The show also picked up Best Revival at the 2023 Olivier Awards, with Mescal and Vasan taking home acting awards.
Joining Frecknall in the creative team is Set Designer Madeleine Girling; Costume Designer Merle Hensel; Lighting Designer Lee Curran; Sound Designer Peter Rice: Composer Angus MacRae; and Casting Director Julia Horan CDG.
