The Kiln Theatre has announced casting for its forthcoming European premiere of The Purists by Dan McCabe.

The Purists plays at the Kiln Theatre from 14 November to 21 December 2024.

Directed by the Kiln’s new artistic director Amit Sharma, the show stars Jasper Britton (Plague Over England, Jerusalem) as Gerry Brinsler, Tiffany Gray (Between Riverside and Crazy) as Val Kano, Emma Kingston (The Band’s Visit, Heathers The Musical) as Nancy Reinstein, Richard Pepple (High Life, Cobra) as Mr. Bugz, and Sule Rimi (Blues For an Alabama Sky, Sweat) as Lamont Born Cipher.

Joining Amit Sharma in the creative team are Assistant Director Imy Wyatt Corner, Set Designer Tom Piper, Costume Designer Ruth Badila, LX Designer Oliver Fenwick, Sound Designer Tony Gayle, and Casting Director Isabella Odoffin.

In The Purists, subcultures and generations collide in this New York comedy that sees two young women put their rap battling skills to the test, and are forced to confront their convictions on race, sexuality and music.

Director Amit Sharma said in a statement: “This wonderful cast captures the heart and humour of The Purists that will truly electrify the stage, bringing Dan McCabe’s sharp and vibrant dialogue to life. Alongside the incredible creative team, The Purists will entertain and bring laughter through the power of music and friendship, and I can’t wait for everyone to see this fun-loving team shine!”

The Purists is running at the Kiln Theatre from 14 November to 21 December 2024.
