Further casting has been announced for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in Concert, set to take the stage of the London Palladium this November.
Cameron Blakely, currently starring as Frank Hillard in Mrs Doubtfire The Musical, will take on the role of Inspector Andre, while Alex Young, whose recent credits include Virginia Creel in Stranger Things: The First Shadow and Poppy in the critically acclaimed Standing at the Sky’s Edge at the National Theatre, will portray Jolene Oaks.
Blakely and Young join a stellar cast of musical theatre favourite, Ramin Karimloo (The Phantom of the Opera, A Face in the Crowd) as the scrappy underdog Freddy Benson and Hadley Fraser (Opening Night, City of Angels, Young Frankenstein) as the smooth and suave Laurence Jamieson. Also starring in the show will be Carly Mercedes Dyer (A Chorus Line) as Christine Colgate and Janie Dee (Sondheim’s Old Friends,The Motive and the Cue) as Muriel Eubanks.
Blakely and Young replace Rufus Hound and Lauren Drew, who were previously announced to play Inspector Andre and Jolene Oaks.
Based on the 1988 hit movie, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels features an unforgettable score by David Yazbek (The Full Monty) and a book by Jeffrey Lane. The 2005 Broadway adaptation was nominated for a staggering ten Tony Awards and the subsequent cast album nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
Set against the backdrop of the glamorous French Riviera, this riotous musical comedy follows two con men as they go head-to-head in a competition to swindle an heiress out of $50,000.
The 2014 West End production at the Savoy Theatre featured an all-star cast, including Robert Lindsay, Alex Gaumond, Katherine Kingsley, Bonnie Langford, and Gary Wilmot.
The concert’s direction will be by Rupert Hands, with musical direction by Adam Hoskins.
