The previously announced UK tour of Bill Bryson’s Notes From a Small Island has been cancelled.
The stage adaptation of Bill Bryon’s best-selling 1995 book about British eccentricities was due to tour the UK from January 2025, starring TV and stage favourite Les Dennis (Coronation Street) as Bill Bryson.
The producers, Simon Friend Entertainment, have issued a statement saying: “Unfortunately, the planned tour of Notes from a Small Island is unable to proceed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and customers will be contacted by their point of purchase for a refund.”
Bill Bryson’s Notes From a Small Island is adapted from Bryon’s book by playwright and screenwriter Tim Whitnall (Morecambe, The Hide).
The production was to be directed by Watermill Theatre’s artistic director Paul Hart (The Lord Of The Rings). A 2023 version of the show by the Watermill Theatre starred Mark Hadfield.
Any ticket holders for the cancelled tour dates will be contacted by their point of sale.
Les Dennis recently starred in Shakespeare North Playhouse’s production of Twelfth Night.
The planned dates for venues owned by ATG have been replaced by a new UK tour of The Girl On The Train, also produced by Simon Friend Entertainment. The new tour includes Richmond Theatre in London in January 2025.
