A new trailer has dropped for Jeremy O. Harris’s acclaimed Broadway play Slave Play – now playing at the Noel Coward Theatre in London.

Directed by Robert O’Hara (The Continuum), Slave Play is running at the Noel Coward Theatre from 29 June to 21 September 2024.
The cast includes Kit Harington (Game of Thrones, True West) as Jim, Olivia Washington (I’m a Virgo, Breaking) as Kaneisha, Fisayo Akinade (The Crucible, Heartstopper) as Gary, Aaron Heffernan (Brassic, Atlanta) as Phillip, and reprising their roles from the original Broadway production, James Cusati-Moyer (Six Degrees of Separation, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Dustin, Chalia La Tour (The Good Fight, Elementary) as Teá, Annie McNamara (Orange is the New Black) as Alana, and Irene Sofia Lucio (The Americans, Wit) as Patricia.
The understudies are Troy Alexander, Dimitri Gripari, Maite Jauregui, Prince Kundai, and Malikah Mcherrin-Cobb.

The drama by award-winner Jeremy O. Harris (The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, Euphoria) follows three interracial couples, and is billed as an explosive and provocative play that rips history apart and sheds new light on race, gender and sexuality in the 21st century.
In addition to Robert O’Hara, the creative team includes set design by Clint Ramos, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Jiyoun Chang, composition and sound design by Lindsay Jones, casting by Amy Ball, voice and dialect coach Aundrea Fudge, intimacy and fight director Claire Warden, original US casting Taylor Williams, and drama therapist Wabriya King. Choreography is by Byron Easley (US) and Jade Hackett (UK).

Slave Play’s London premiere follows successful runs at the New York Theatre Workshop and Broadway’s Golden Theatre, both directed by Robert O’Hara, where it was nominated for 12 Tony Awards in 2021, a Broadway record.
The producers Empire Street Productions, Seaview, and bb², have also announced a ‘Pay What You Can’ lottery for Slave Play, whereby every Wednesday at 10am 30 tickets will be released for each performance the following week at £1 and above.
Jeremy O. Harris said in a statement: “Working with James Bierman and the team at Empire Street has been a dream for many reasons, but chief among them is the commitment we share in discovering ways to remove barriers for those who have never seen a West End show. Financial insecurity is one of the greatest barriers to anyone trying to see a play and one that stopped me from seeing my first show on Broadway until I was well into my 20s (just a year before my own production – Slave Play – transferred). I hope this can spark more initiatives like it.”
Slave Play is running to 21 September 2024 at the Noel Coward Theatre.
