Book tickets now for Julius Caesar – Shakespeare’s epic political thriller, staged for the first time ever in the intimate, candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, playing from 6 November 2026 to 14 February 2027 to open Shakespeare’s Globe’s 2026-27 Winter Season. Â
Julius Caesar in London Â
Joe Hill-Gibbins (Ghosts) returns to the Globe to direct Shakespeare’s brutal and timely tale of friendship, betrayal and political violence. One of the most exciting and provocative directors of classic work in the country, known for his boldly inventive stagings at the Young Vic and beyond, Hill-Gibbins brings one of Shakespeare’s most enduringly relevant political dramas to the indoor playhouse for the very first time. Â
This production of Julius Caesar stars Kate DuchĂȘne (Afterlife), Caoilfhionn Dunne (Andor), Adam Gillen (Cabaret) and Natey Jones (Tina â The Tina Turner Musical) as Julius Caesar/Soothsayer/Octavius Caesar, Brutus, Mark Antony, and Cassius respectively. Â Â
This is the first time it has ever been staged in the intimate, candlelit surroundings of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, promising an unusually close and charged encounter with Shakespeare’s story of democracy under threat.
What is Julius Caesar about? Â
In the corridors of the Senate, a murderous plot builds amidst concerns over the growing ambition of the dictator Julius Caesar. But when the tide of public opinion turns against his enemies, political in-fighting erupts into all-out civil war.

Julius Caesar plays a strictly limited season at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 6 November 2026 to 14 February 2027. Â Â
With a star-led cast, the intimate candlelit playhouse seating only a small audience, and as the opening production of the Globe’s Winter Season, demand is expected to be high. Early booking is strongly recommended.
Celebrated as a God amongst men, Caesar has returned to Rome in triumph after a bloody civil war. However, at the height of his viral victory and extraordinary rise in popularity, a festering horror grows in those who fear that too much power held by one man is a threat to the Republic and democracy itself.
Through a campaign spearheaded by Cassius and Brutus, a spiralling plot to see the tyrannical politician removed escalates, and sees their bloody actions lead to all-out war.
