Based on the famous masked crusader character created by American pulp fiction writer Johnston McCulley, the musical stage adaptation has an original story by Stephen Clark and Helen Edmundson. The show features music by The Gipsy Kings with additional music co-composed and adapted by John Cameron.
The story follows El Zorro or The Fox in Spanish – the son of a wealthy landowner in 19th century California who returns home from Spain at the behest of his childhood sweet heart to save the pueblo from the tyrannical hands of his foster brother.
Fighting for justice and freedom this red-hot tale of the hero behind the mask will be told in an immersive, thrilling and sensual new production at Charing Cross Theatre from 12 March 2022.
Casting and full creative for the West End revival is to be announced.
Zorro premiered to widespread acclaim at the Garrick Theatre in 2008 with a lead cast featuring Matt Rawle as Zorro/Diego De La Vega, Emma Williams as Luisa, Adam Levy as Ramon, Lesli Margherita as Inez, Nick Cavaliere as Sergeant Garcia, and Jonathan Newth as Don Alejandro De La Vega.
It was nominated for five Olivier Awards: best new musical, best actress (Emma Williams), actor (Matt Rawle) and supporting role (Lesli Margherita) in a musical and best theatre choreographer for Rafael Amargo. Lesli Margherita won for her performance.
Zorro The Musical is presented at the Charing Cross Theatre by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment and John Gertz in association with Zorro USA, LLC With Bonnie Comely and Stewart F Lane.

I am excited to be bringing our troupe of incredible actor-musician performers to Charing Cross Theatre next Spring, performing in the round and bringing some flamenco and Spanish flair to everyone’s seats.” said Katy Lipson.
The London revival will be directed by Christian Durham with choreography by Cressida Carré, set and costume design by Rosa Maggiora, musical direction and and orchestrations by Nick Barstow, sound design by Andrew Johnson, lighting design by Matthew Haskins and fight direction by Renny Krupinski with flamenco specialist Maria Vega and accent coach Nina Zendejas. The casting director is Jane Deitch and the general manager is Chris Matanlé.
Zorro The Musical is booking from 12 March 2022 until 8 May 2022 at Charing Cross Theatre, London.
