Jaws comedy ‘The Shark is Broken’ releases new production images

New comedy The Shark is Broken at the Ambassadors Theatre in London has released new production images ahead of its West End premiere tonight, 19 November.

Written by Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon, The Shark is Broken is an hilarious behind-the-scenes drama about the filming of Steven Spielberg’s 1974 blockbuster film JAWS.

The play follows the films lead actors – Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss – as they wait for their carnivorous mechanical co-star to be fixed. Stuck on a boat, and fuelled by alcohol, rivalry and ambition, these three great whites start to bare their teeth.

Ian Shaw (War Horse and Common, National Theatre) plays his father Robert Shaw alongside Liam Murray Scott as Richard Dreyfuss (reprising the role he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019), and Demetri Goritsas (ear for eye, Royal Court; Black Mirror, Netflix) as Roy Scheider.

The comedy premiered to five-star critical acclaimed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 and is presented in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions.

The Shark is Broken is directed by Guy Masterson with set and costume by Duncan Henderson, lighting by Neil Austin & Jamie Platt, sound and music by Adam Cork and video by Nina Dunn.

The Shark is Broken is booking until 15 January 2022 at The Ambassadors Theatre, London.
