What is 1536 about?
Set in Tudor England, the play follows three friends in rural Essex who regularly meet up to indulge in gossip. When rumours reach them of the goings on at court, what with the King having his own wife and Queen arrested, it lays bare some dark realities about their own lives.
The cast of the play features the trio of women who starred in the Almeida production, including:
- Jane: Liv Hill (Film Club)
- Anna: Siena Kelly (On the Town)
- Mariella: Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education)
- Richard: Oliver Johnstone (All My Sons)
- William: George Kemp (Bridgerton)
Directed by Lyndsey Turner (Chimerica), the creative team also includes set and costume design by Max Jones, lighting by Jack Knowles and sound by Tingying Dong.
