The Mouse House confirms UK tour of ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will embark on a UK and Ireland tour in 2021, it has been confirmed.

The much-loved musical will open for a 5-week engagement at Curve Leicester in May 2021 and then tour nationally with venues, dates and casting to be announced.

Adapted from the 1991 animated film, the classic French fairy tale premiered at the Palace Theatre on Broadway in 1994 running for 13 years and 5,461 performances, with the West End production opening at the Dominion Theatre in 1997 and running until 1999.

Beauty and the Beast features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton.

Composer Alan Menkin had mentioned last year that he and the original creative team were revisiting the show with an eye on a significant touring production, however it was assumed the tour would be in North America.

Producers Disney Theatrical have confirmed the original Broadway creative team is set to return, led by director Robert Jesse Roth and choreographer Matt West, bringing new designs and choreography to the tale as old as time.
