Matt Crowley’s 1968 play about gay friendships and chosen family was ground-breaking for the time when being gay was best kept behind closed doors. Set in New York City, what begins as an evening of drinks and laughter descends into a night of confrontation, where the the very foundation of their friendship is put into question.
The play was last revived in London’s West End in a 2017 production at the Vaudeville Theatre with Mark Gattiss and Daniel Boys among the cast.
The film is produced by screenwriter/director Ryan Murphy whose hits include Hollywood, American Horror Story, Pose, The Politician and Nip/Tuck.
