Get a quick insight into Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new stage production of Cinderella as the musical maestro discusses the show with lead performer Carrie Hope-Fletcher and the musical’s book writer Emerald Fennel.
Up until this point all we knew about the production was that it was a complete reinvention of the classic fairytale story. We now know it will be set in a very traditional style but will look at the idea of transformation from a very modern perspective.
Like previous versions of Cinderella, we will see our heroine transform into one of the beautiful people only to then question if her transformation and need for acceptance by her community is a true reflection of herself.
Lloyd Webber says the show is about beauty and how beauty is who you are not how you look.
This certainly won’t be a grungy Cinderella, so expect the beautiful costumes and set.
Cinderella is due to begin performances at the Gillian Lynne Theatre from 9 October 2020.
