Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph will play Mother Superior in the UK tour of Sister Act The Musical.
Joseph joins Brenda Edwards and Clive Rowe, who will play ‘Deloris Van Cartier’ and police lieutenant ‘Eddie Souther’.
Joseph, who is best known for playing ‘Doreen Green’ in over 100 episodes of comedy series Birds of a Feather, was most recently on stage playing ‘Miss Hannigan’ in the West End and UK tour of Annie. Other recent theatre credits include the UK premiere of Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein at the Garrick Theatre for which she was nominate for an Olivier Award for her performance as ‘Frau Blucher’ and the UK tour of Calendar Girls..
Brenda Edwards found fame as a semi-finalist in the 2005 series of X-Factor and has since established a successful musical theatre career with roles in Chicago, We Will Rock You, Carousel, Carmen Jones and most recently in White Christmas at the Dominion Theatre. She is often found on screens as a panellist on Loose Women.
Rowe’s numerous West End and touring credits include Guys and Dolls (National Theatre), Ladykillers (Gielgud Theatre), Chicago (Adelphi Theatre), Sweet Charity (Donmar Warehouse), The Wind in The Willows (UK tour) and Me and My Girl (Chichester Festival Theatre).
Based on the smash-hit 90’s film starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act The Musical returns to the stage in 2020 with a spectacular new touring production.
Directed by Bill Buckhurst, the tour opens Curve Leicester (21 April – 2May) and will travel to Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin, Cardiff, Ipswich, Stoke, Darlington, Liverpool, Nottingham and Milton Keynes.
The show will also play dates at the London Eventim Apollo in which Whoopi Goldberg and Jennifer Saunders will play the roles of Deloris Van Cartier and Mother Superior.
