Sebastian Barry’s acclaimed new play ‘On Blueberry Hill‘ will open at Trafalgar Studios in Spring 2020.
Irish theatre company, Fishamble: The New Play Company will transfer its acclaimed production of ‘On Blueberry Hill‘ to London’s West End following sell-out runs in Dublin and New York.
The piece has charmed Irish and New York critics where it was described as ‘radiant’ New York Times, ‘phenomenal’ The Independent, ‘beautiful and mesmerising’ by The New Yorker.
The highly anticipated new play from one of Irelands greatest living writer’s, his first in a decade, is set in a prison and centres on two inmates destined to share their lives for twenty years. Best of friends and worst of enemies, PJ and Christy reflect on the hope and torment of life outside – and slowly uncover the events that have led them to their world with explosive, bittersweet consequences.
Directed by Jim Culleton, the play will see Olivier Award winner Niall Buggy and West End and Broadway star David Ganly reprise their roles of Christy and PJ from the New York and Dublin run.
The creative team includes design by Sabine Dargent, lighting design by Mark Galione, sound design and composition by Denis Clohessy and is produced for Fishamble by Eva Scanlan.

His novels and plays have won, among other awards, the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Prize, the Costa Book of the Year award, the Irish Book Awards Best Novel, the Independent Booksellers Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize.
