Laura Wade’s new play The Watsons will transfer to London’s West End in early 2020.
The comedy which premiered to rave reviews at Chichester Festival Theatre and most recently ran at the Menier Chocolate Factory will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 8 May 2020 with a press night on 19 May.
Adapted from Jane Austen’s unfinished novel of the same name, The Watsons follows young Emma Watson, who having been cut off from her wealthy aunt, must find a suitable husband to ensure her own happy ending.
Described as ‘theatrical gold’ (Variety) and ‘ingenious and triumphant’ (Evening Standard) the comedy is directed by Wade’s husband, Samuel West.
The creative team includes design by Ben Stones, lighting by Richard Howell, sound by Gregory Clarke, movement by Mike Ashcroft and music by Isobel Waller-Bridge.
Casting will be announced early next year.
Priority tickets go on-sale at 10am on 13 November, ahead of the general on-sale which is on Friday 15 November.
The Watsons will run from 8 May 2020 until 26 September 2020 at the Harold Pinter Theatre, London.
