Ute Lemper will hit the road this January with her critically acclaimed show Ute Lemper: Rendezvous With Marlene.
After a five-star sold-out London premiere, West End and Broadway star Ute Lemper will tour the UK with her show which is a personal homage to Marlene Dietrich.
Awarded the Moliére Award for her performance as Sally Bowles in ‘Cabaret’ in Paris, Ute Lemper wrote a postcard to legendary Hollywod icon Marlene Dietrich, to apologise for all the media attention that had hailed Ute as a new star and compared the youngster to the legendary icon.
Who would have guessed that Marlene would ring the young ingénue? Ute tells us Marlene’s story, along with singing her fabulous songs from all the chapters of her life, from the Berlin cabaret years to her fabulous Burt Bacharach collaborations.
Ute said: “‘Rendezvous with Marlene’ means a lot to me – it is my personal homage to that great lady. There are many portraits of Mar- lene out there, but this one is coming from my heart. Audiences are in for an incredible story; history, fate, courage, style, politics, glamour and sex, talent and a huge career.”
Ute’s many stage credits include her Olivier Award winning performance of Velma Kelly in Chicago, Grizabella and Bombalurina in CATS, Sally Bowles in Cabaret and Lola in The Blue Angel. She has featured on over 30 CD as a recording artist in her 30 year career.
The tour will open at St Georges Hall in Bristol on 30 January and continue to Southampton, Guidlford, Hove, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh.
