Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel will star in the West End production of Waitress at the Adelphi Theatre in London.
The international hit singer/songwriter will make her West End debut in the role of Jenna, with Tony and Olivier Award winner Gavin Creel playing love interest Dr. Pomatter. The pair will reunite in the West End this January following their widely lauded performances in the Broadway production.
Bareilles, who wrote the music and lyrics for Waitress, is an international hit singer/songwriter with seven Grammy® nominations, two Tony nominations and three Emmy nominations to her name.
Musical theatre star Creel recently won the Tony Award for his performance as Cornelius in Hello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce. His numerous credits include The Book of Mormon (Broadway/West End), La Cage Aux Folles, Hair, Stephen Sondheim’s Bounce, Mary Poppins and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Bareilles and Creel will perform in the production for six weeks from 27 January until 7 March 2020 with Lucie Jones and David Hunter then returning to the production .
Hannah Tointon (The Inbetweeners, Penny Dreadful, Mr Selfridge), as previously announced, will join the cast in the role of ‘Dawn’ from 2 December 2019. Laura Baldwin’s final shift at the diner will be on 30 November 2019.
Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a young woman whose talent for baking might be the path to a new life. When a hot new doctor comes to town, life gets a little complicated. The musical is based on Adrienne Shelly’s film starring Kerri Russell.
Waitress is booking until 28 March 2020 at the Adelphi Theatre, London.
