Nominations for the UK Theatre Awards 2019 have been announced with Sheffield Theatres production of Life Of Pi and Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre each receiving 4 nominations.
Nominees for Best New Play include Laura Wade’s The Watsons, Ulster American by David Ireland and Life Of Pi, adapted by Lolita Chakrabarti from Yann Martel’s novel.
Best Musical Production nominees are The Color Purple (Curve and Birmingham Hippodrome co-production), Sheffield Theatres’ Standing At The Sky’s Edge and the Royal Exchange Theatre’s West Side Story.
In acting categories the nominations include established performers Mark Gatiss, Jenna Russell and Rebecca Trehearn alongside rising talent Kudzai Sitima, Emmanuel Kojo, Hiran Abeysekera.
The judging panel for theatre awards include Arifa Akbar, Clare Brennan, Dominic Cavendish, Mark Fisher, Sam Marlowe, Grania McFadden, Mark Shenton, Natasha Tripney and Julian Bird (chair).
The winners will be announced on Sunday 27 October at London’s Guildhall.
