The West End production of The Winter’s Tale starring Kenneth Branagh and Judi Dench will return to cinema’s this Christmas with a worldwide screening on 4 December 2019.

Branagh’s production of Shakespeareʼs timeless tragicomedy of obsession and redemption was co-directed by Rob Ashford and Branagh with with a stellar cast, including Dench as Paulina, Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express), Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose), Hadley Fraser (Young Frankenstein), Miranda Raison and Branagh as Leontes.

The show sold-out at the Garrick Theatre and kick-started Branagh’s year-long season of plays at the Garrick Theatre in London.

The critically acclaimed and sell-out production ran at the Garrick Theatre in 2015-2016 as part of Branagh’s hugely successful season of plays.

Often described as one of Shakespeare’s problem plays the story follows King Leontes who appears to have everything: power, wealth, a loving family and friends. But sexual jealousy sets in motion a chain of events with tragic consequences…

Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing added: “It’s been four years since we first broadcast this landmark production live from the Garrick Theatre. At the time, it was the beginning of our collaboration with the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company and now its great to bring The Winter’s Tale back to audiences around the world to enjoy these incredible performances from Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench and the rest of the cast.”
