The Girl On The Train stage play to open in West End

The stage adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel The Girl On The Train will open at the Duke Of York’s Theatre in London’s West End.

The gripping thriller will star Samantha Womack (Ronnie Mitchell in BBC1’s EastEnders) as Rachel Watson, previously played by Emily Blunt in the film adaptation.

The Girl On The Train follows Rachel, a troubled woman whose only solace in life is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day. When she learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, Rachel finds herself as a witness and even a suspect in a thrilling mystery in which she will face bigger revelations than she could ever have anticipated.

Womack’s numerous stage, tv and film credits include the recent stage production of The Addams Family; Silent Witness and Mount Pleasant for tv; and the Kingsman film franchise.

The novel has been adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff Duncan Abel and is directed by Anthony Banks.  The creative team also includes James Cotterill (set and costume), Jack Knowles (lighting), Ben & Max Ringham (composition & sound), Andrzej Goulding (video) and Alison de Burgh (fights).

Full casting to be announced.

The Girl On The Train is booking from 23 July 2019 until 17 August 2019 at the Duke of York’s Theatre, London.
