Falsettos to get UK premiere at The Other Palace

William Finn and James Lapine‘s Tony award-winning musical Falsettos will receive its UK premiere at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Other Palace theatre in London.

The musical is a hilarious and poignant look at a modern family revolving around the life of a gay man Marvin, his wife, his lover, his soon to be bar mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbian neighbours. Divided into two parts, March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, the show was written against the backdrop of the AIDS crisis.

Originally premiering on Broadway in 1992, it was nominated for seven Tony Awards, winning Best Book and Best Original Score.

A recent Broadway rival featuring Tony Award-winners Christian Borle (Smash, Peter and the Starcatcher) and Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon, Girls) was nominated for five Tony Awards.

Finn and Lapine’s other credits include the musical adaptation of Little Miss Sunshine, which is currently touring the UK after receiving its European premiere at London’s Arcola Theatre.

Lapine is closely associated with Stephen Sondheim, with whom he has frequently collaborated including Sunday in the Park with George, Into The Woods and Passion.

Casting and creatives will be announced in due course.

Falsettos will run from 30 August 2019 until 23 November 2019 at The Other Palace Theatre, London.
