Falsettos is booking from 30 August 2019 until 23 November 2019 at The Other Palace Theatre, London.

News about Falsettos

Matt Cardle withdraws from ‘Falsettos The Musical’ at The Other Palace Theatre
Matt Cardle has withdrawn from Falsettos the Musical at the Other Palace Theatre due to unforeseen scheduling complications. Cardle, who is currently appearing in the critically acclaimed revival of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican Theatre until 24 August 2019, was set to play Mendel in the UK premiere of the musical which begins preview performances on 30 August. The role will now be played by Joel Montague whose extensive theatre credits include Kiss Me Kate, Fat Friends, School of Rock, Urine Town and Funny Girl. Montague's last minute casting is reminiscent of West End actress Caroline Sheen stepping in the lead role of 9 to 5 The Musical at the Savoy Theatre earlier this year when Louise Redknapp withdrew due to injury with two weeks until opening night. Montague will join a top-notch cast including Natasha J Barnes, Daniel Boyes, Oliver Savile and Laura Pitt-Pulford. Announcing his departure from the show, Cardle said: “I am truly sorry that circumstances beyond our control have led to my departure from Falsettos. It has been such a hard decision for us to make, as I know Tara Overfield-Wilkinson [director] is going to deliver the most incredible show. “It’s a complex and exciting show and I can’t wait to watch the world-class cast bring this to life at The Other Palace and urge anyone who hasn’t yet bought tickets to do so before the run sells out. I for one won’t miss the chance to watch it.” The Tony Award-winning musical, with music, lyrics and book by William Finn and book by James Lapine, is a poignant look at modern family life revolving around gay man Marvin, his wife, his lover, his son, their doctors, and their lesbian neighbours. The production is directed and choreographed by Tara Overfield-Wilkinson, with designs by PJ McEvoy, lighting by Nic Farman, sound by Chris Whybrow, musical direction by Richard John and musical supervision by Mark Crossland. Falsettos is booking from 30 August 2019 until 23 November 2019 at The Other Palace Theatre, London.
