Beano Studios have teamed up with UK theatre company Selladoor to develop a new musical based on the Emmy-nominated series Dennis and Gnasher: Unleashed!
BAFTA-winning writer/producer-director Will Brenton is on board to write the show which will feature Dennis and Gnasher’s hallmark slapstick comedy and ageless humour delivered with a repertoire of songs.
Emma Scott, CEO of Beano Studios said: “Following the success of Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed around the world, bringing our gang to life on stage is the perfect next step.” She added, “Selladoor are the ideal team to take on the exciting challenge of bringing the iconic characters to life in a show to entertain all ages.”
The hit TV show, which stars Freddie Fox (An Ideal Husband, Travesties) as Dennis, follows him and his sidekick Gnasher as they get into all sorts of scrapes. The show recently secured its second series on CBBC.
Selladoor specialise in touring productions both in the UK and internationally with upcoming productions including Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Madagascar The Musical, Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical, Amelie, Avenue Q and Little Miss Sunshine.
Dennis and Gnasher: Unleashed! the Musical will launch in 2020 ahead of a tour of over 40 venues in the UK and Ireland.
