Katherine McPhee will leave West End musical Waitress this coming June.

McPhee originated the lead role of Jenna in the West End premiere having performed the role too critical acclaim on Broadway. 

Since finding international fame as a captivating singer on American Idol – Season 5, McPhee has become a successful recording artist in her native US and became the breakout star of the 2013 NBC-TV musical series Smash and recently starred in the hit CBS dramatic series Scorpion.

Audiences have ten weeks to catch McPhee who will play her final performance on Saturday 15 June 2019.

Casting for McPhee’s role is yet to be announced.

London’s brand-new smash hit musical comedy tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams her way out of a loveless marriage. When a hot new doctor arrives in town, life gets complicated. With the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges she faces and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness. 

The hit musical has music and lyrics by seven-time Grammy Award-nominee Sara Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, choreography by Lorin Latarro and is directed by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

Starring alongside McPhee are Jack McBrayer, Marisha Wallace, Laura Baldwin, Peter Hannah, David Hunter and Shaun Prendergast.

Waitress is booking until 4 January 2020 at the Adelphi Theatre, London.
