Cameron Mackintosh presents a star-studded production of Les Misérables at the Gielgud Theatre.
Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Matt Lucas will lead a large cast and orchestra of over sixty-five in a concert version of Les Misérables.
This spectacular and intimate staging of the legendary concert, previously seen in London at the Royal Albert Hall and the O2 Arena, will play for a limited 16 week season at the Gielgud Theatre.
A compelling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption, Les Misérables is a timeless musical testament to the survival of the human spirit against all of the odds. Featuring the songs “I Dreamed A Dream”, “Bring Him Home”, “One Day More” and “On My Own” – Les Misérables is the show to end all shows.
Les Misérables The All-Star Staged Concert is booking from 10 August 2019 until 30 November 2019 at the Gielgud Theatre, London.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells the story of ex-convict Jean Valjean and his quest for redemption.
Having served 17 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread for his starving niece, a kindly Bishop inspires Valjean to begin a new life.
Breaking parole, Valjean is hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert.
When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
The cast is led by Michael Ball as ‘Javert’, Alfie Boe as ‘Jean Valjean’, Carrie Hope Fletcher as ‘Fantine’, Matt Lucas as ‘Thénardier’, Shan Ako as ‘Eponine’, Katey Secombe as ‘Madame Thénardier’ and Lily Kerhoas as ‘Cosette’. John-Owen Jones will play the role of Jean Valjean for three performances a week.
Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Les Misérables is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel with additional material by James Fenton and adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.
Cast Performance Schedules: Alfie Boe will not be performing on Monday evenings, Wednesday matinees or Thursday evenings. John-Owen Jones will perform on Monday evenings, Wednesday matinees & Thursday evenings. Michael Ball will not perform on 13 & 14 September 2019 Alfie Boe will not perform on 14, 15 & 16 October 2019
