Swedish hit maker Max Martin pens West End musical

Internationally renowned song-writer and 5-time Grammy Award winner Max Martin has teamed up with David West Read (Schitt’s Creek) to create a comic, pop inspired new musical, & Juliet, which opens in the UK later this year.

Rising star Miriam Teak will lead the cast as Juliet, in a story which uses characters from Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and sees Juliet ditching the infamous dagger and heading to Paris with Nurse and friends on a whirlwind trip of romance and self-discovery.

Tony’ and ‘Grammy’ Award-winning orchestrator Bill Sherman has put new arrangements to Max Martin’s back catalogue with the score of & Juliet set to include some of pop music’s most iconic songs, including Britney Spears hit ‘…Baby One More Time’, Backstreet Boys ‘Everybody’, Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’ and The Weeknd’s ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’.

The highly anticipated show is brought to the stage by an award-winning creative team with direction by Luke Sheppard (In the Heights), story by David West Read (Executive Producer and Writer on Schitt’s Creek, one of the funniest tv comedies on television), choreography from Jennifer Weber and set design from Soutra Gilmour (Pinter Season).

& Juliet will play a limited season at Manchester Opera House, from 10 September 2019 until 12 October, before beginning performances on 2 November 2019 in London at The Shaftesbury Theatre.

Tickets go on general sale on Monday 11 February 2019.
