David Suchet and Brendan Coyle to star in The Price

David Suchet and Brendan Coyle will star in the West End transfer of Bath Theatre Royal’s production of Arthur Miller’s The Price.

Suchet and Coyle will reprise their roles alongside Adrian Lukis who returns to play Victor’s brother, Walter Franz, and Sara Stewart as Esther Franz, Victor’s wife.

Suchet, best known for playing Hercule Poirot in Agatha Christie’s Poirot, will play Gregory Solomon, a silver-tongued 90-year-old furniture dealer whilst Downton Abbey’s Brendan Coyle will play New York policeman Victor Franz.

Directed by Jonathan Church, the play follows two brothers, Victor and Walter, who meet for the first time in many years as they attempt to sell their deceased parents possessions.

Like Miller’s better-known works, The Price mines his preoccupation with the pleasures and perils of the American Dream – with each brother having to confront the price they have paid for decisions made in their youth.

Church’s revival marks the 50th anniversary of the play which premiered at the Morosco Theatre on Broadway in 1968.
