Waitress to open at Adelphi Theatre in February 2019

Broadway musical Waitress will open at the Adelphi Theatre in February 2019 following the closure of Kinky Boots The Musical.

The Tony-nominated musical opened to critical acclaim on Broadway in April 2016 and continues to be one of the top performing shows on Broadway. Its West End transfer has been highly anticipated.

Based on the 2007 indie film by Adrienne Shelly and starring Kerri Russell, Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. With a baking contest on the horizon and a new doctor in town, she must find the courage to follow her dreams.

Waitress is the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots, with a book by Jessie Nelson, a score by six-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

Diane Paulus said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Waitress is coming to the beautiful Adelphi Theatre! It is a dream come true to share this musical with London audiences.

Sara Bareilles said: “I cannot contain my excitement that we will be bringing Waitress to the West End!! This is a dream come true! We are so proud of this beautiful show, and can’t wait to share the story of Jenna with a whole new audience and welcome them into the world of Waitress with open arms and plenty of pie.

Casting and full booking information to be announced.
