Images have been released offering a first glimpse of Orlando Bloom and cast in rehearsal for Tracy Letts’ black comedy thriller, Killer Joe.
Orlando Bloom leads the cast in the title role of Killer Joe, alongside Sophie Cookson as Dottie, Adam Gillen as Chris, Neve McIntosh as Sharla and Steffan Rhodri as Ansel.
Letts’ award winning play is about a family who hire a contract killer to take out one of their own for the insurance money; a tense, gut twisting thriller, it asks where the moral line is drawn in the fight for survival.
The production will see The Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of The Rings star return to the West End stage following his debut in 2007 in a revival of David Storey’s 1969 drama In Celebration.
Film and television actress Sophie Cookson (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Netflix series Gypsy) will make her West End debut in Killer Joe.
Whilst he is best known for his recurring role in ITV series Benidorm, Adam Gillen’s stage credits include the title role of Amadeus and The Five Wives of Maurice Pinder both at the National Theatre, Wendy and Peter for the RSC and A Taste of Honey at the Royal Exchange.
Neve McIntosh has recently appeared on television in BBC’s Shetland; her theatre credits include Meet Me at Dawn in the 2017 Edinburgh International Festival, King Lear at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, and Proof at Perth Theatre.
Steffan Rhodri’s extensive theatre credits include Woyzeck and The Hairy Ape at The Old Vic, This House at the Garrick Theatre, Posh at the Duke of York Theatre and Absent Friends at The Harold Pinter Theatre; though he is probably best know for tv series Gavin & Stacey,
Killer Joe is booking from 18 May 2018 until 18 August at Trafalgar Studios 1, London.
