Tina Turner musical extends West run until October 2018

Tina – The Tina Turner Musical has extended its booking period at the Aldwych Theatre until October 2018.

Following huge demand, and before it has even begun previews, the new Tina Turner musical has released a further 100,000 tickets for sale and is now booking until 20 October 218.

The highly anticipated new musical based on the life of the legendary artist will premiere in London on 17 April 2018, with previews from 21 March 2018.

Tina – The Tina Turner Musical is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who directed world wide hit musical Mamma Mia!, and, in her West End debut will star Broadway actress Adrienne Warren in the title role.

Warren’s US theatre credits include her Tony-nominated role in Shuffle Along at the Music Box Theatre on Broadway, Bring It On The Musical (St. James Theater), Dreamgirls (Apollo Theater) and The Wiz (Encores City Center).

British actor Kobna Holdbrook-Smith will play Ike Turner. He was last on stage playing Laertes in Hamlet at the Barbican alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Justice League actors  extensive theatre roles include Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Edward II, Antigone and Death and the King’s Horseman for the National Theatre, The Low Road for the Royal Court, Feast, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone and The Changeling for the Young Vic and Love’s Labour’s Lost for Shakespeare’s Globe.

The musical is written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, choreography is by Anthony van Laast, with set and costume designs by Mark Thompson, musical supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Nevin Steinberg, projection design by Jeff Sugg and orchestrations by Ethan Popp.
