Cuba Gooding Jr will star in the West End revival of Chicago
The Oscar winning actor best known for ‘Boyz n Hood’, ‘Jerry Maguire’, and more recently FX drama series ‘The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story’, will make his British stage debut as smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn.
Cuba Gooding Jr made his Broadway theatre debut alongside Cicely Tyson and Vanessa Williams in the Tony Award-nominated production of The Trip to Bountiful in 2013. Predominately a film actor, other notable films include ‘As Good As It Gets’, ‘Men of Honor’, ‘American Gangster’ and ‘The Butler’.
Full casting is yet to be announced.
Chicago originally ran in London for 15 years and returns to the West End following a 5½-year absence. The hit show is the worlds longest running Americal musical and is the winner of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy.
Chicago has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.
Chicago is currently booking from 26 March 2018 until 23 June 2018 at the Phoenix Theatre.
