An American In Paris to close in West End

The West End production of An American In Paris is to close at the Dominion Theatre in January 2018.

The production opened to rave reviews in March with Michael Billington, Guardian Theatre critic (★★★★★) calling it ‘Theatrical Gold’. It was initially booking until 27 January 2018 but will give its final performance on 6 January 2018, having run for 10 months.

Inspired by the Hollywood film, the show features music by George and Ira Gershwin and is written by Craig Lucas with choreography by Christopher Wheeldon.

The musical first premiered in 2014 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, before transferring to Broadway where it received 12 Tony® nominations and won 4 including Best Choreography; and then transferred to London.

In announcing the closure, producers confirmed the production had been filmed for future release in cinemas, featuring the original cast led by Leanne Cope as Lise Dassin, and Robert Fairchild.

An American in Paris currently stars Ashley Day as Jerry Mulligan and Leanne Cope as Lise Dassin.
