Further casting announced for Star Wars’ John Boyega’s London stage debut

Further casting has been announced for the Old Vic production of Woyzeck starring John Boyega

The Star Wars actor will be joined by Shameless actor Ben Batt who plays Andrews, Nancy Carroll (The Moderate Soprano, The Recruiting Officer, Closer) who plays Maggie, Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful) who plays Marie and Steffan Rhodri (This House) who plays Captain.

Widely regarded as the first “modern” drama, Woyzeck is based on the true story of a military barber who killed his mistress in a fit of jealousy and was sentenced to death.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child writer Jack Thorne has adapted Georg Buchner’s classic, updating it to 1980s Berlin during the Cold War.

Boyega will make his London stage debut playing Woyzeck.

Woyzeck runs from 25 February 2017 until 18 April 2017 at the Old Vic Theatre.
