John Tiffany’s acclaimed production of The Glass Menagerie will open at the Duke of York’s Theatre in January 2017.
Premiering on Broadway in 2013, Tiffany’s multi Tony award-nomininated production of Tennessee Williams’ play most recently ran at the 2016 Edinburgh International Festival.
American actres Cherry Jones reprises her role as matriarch Amanda Wingfield alongside two members of the Edinburgh cast Kate O’Flynn who plays Laura and Michael Esper as Tom. Brian J Smith played the role of the Gentlemen Caller on Broadway and returns to the role in London. Jones, who is considered Broadway theatre royalty, will make her West End debut.
Tennessee Williams’ classic play tells of a matriarch and her attempts to get her writer son Tom to bring round ‘gentlemen callers’ for her recluse daughter Laura.
The Glass Menagerie will have a limited 12 week run from 26 January 2017 until 29 April 2017 at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
