Hamilton musical confirms 2017 West End run

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s critically acclaimed Broadway hit musical Hamilton will open in October 2017 at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton one of America’s founding father’s, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton is an amazing, thrillingly multi-layered new musical.

The Broadway show is expected to sweep the board at the 2016 Tony Awards on Sunday 12 Junes 2016 where it has received a record setting 16 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Director in a Musical, 2 nods for Best Actor in a Musical (Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom, Jr), Best Actress in a Musical, and 3 Best Actors features in a musical.

The Victoria Palace Theatre, home to Billy Elliot The Musical for the last decade is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment by new owner Cameron Mackintosh.

Casting has not yet been confirmed however with Miranda leaving the Broadway production in July 2016 to work on other projects a return to this iconic role in the West End in 2017 looks likely.

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first musical In The Heights is currently playing at the King’s Cross Theatre, London.

Hamilton will run from October 2017 at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
