London transfer for An American in Paris

The Tony-Award winning dance musical An American In Paris will transfer to London’s Dominion Theatre in early 2017.

Inspired by the 1951 Academy Award winning film starring Gene Kelly with music by George and Ira Gershwin, Christopher Wheeldon’s award winning production of An American In Paris will begin previews from 4 March 2017 at London’s Dominion Theatre.

Nominated for twelve 2015 Tony Awards, the hit production won four including best choreography for Wheeldon.

The Broadway leads Robert Fairchild (a New York City Ballet Principal dancer) and British Royal Ballet soloist Leanne Cope will transfer with the production to lead a company of over 50 actors, dancers and musicians. Fairchild and Cope will make their West End debut.  A casting call was circulated in February 2016 looking for performers with extensive ballet training and excellent classic technique.

The production features unforgettable songs from George and Ira Gershwin including I Got Rhythm, S Wonderful, But Not For Me and They Can’t Take That Away From Me.

An American in Paris will preview from 4 March 2017 at the Dominion Theatre.
