Sonia Friedman named Producer of the Year

Sonia Friedman named Producer of the Year at The Stage Awards 2016.

Acclaimed West End and Broadway producer, Sonia Friedman, has been named Producer of the Year for the second year running at The Stage Awards 2016 held at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London.
Friedman said, “It is a real honour to be given this award for the second year in a row. It is testament to the extraordinary hard work of all my team and the brilliance of the creative people we have worked with that this has been given to me. I want to take this opportunity to thank them all for what they do.”

Friedman produced 19 productions in 2015, with hits including Hamlet starring Benedict Cumberbatch at The Barbican, the award winning and critically acclaimed Bend it Like Beckham and the multi award-winning Sunny Afternoon which won 4 Oliver Awards in 2015 including Best New Musical, Farinelli and the King starring Mark Rylance and King Charles III in the West End, on Broadway and on tour.

Forthcoming productions include Funny Girl at the Savoy Theatre, the UK tour of Sunny Afternoon and, with her co-producing partner, Colin Callender, collaborating with J.K. Rowling on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Long running productions include The Book of Mormon.
