Jeff Wayne’s musical version of The War of The Worlds announces full casting.
Popstar Daniel Bedingfield, Sugababes singer Heidi Range and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet star Jimmy Nail, make their West End debuts as The Artilleryman, Beth and Parson Nathaniel.
West End regulars Michael Praed and Madalena Alberto will play George Herbert and Carrie. Praed is best known for his role in Dynasty and playing Robin of Loxley in the classic television series Robin of Sherwood, his many stage credits include The Sound of Music (Palladium), The Pirates of Penzance (Drury Lane), Aspects of Love (Prince of Wales) and The Three Musketeers (Broadway Theatre).
Alberto’s recent theatre credits include Eva Peron in Evita at The Dominion, Grizabella in CATS at the London Palladium and Fantine in the 25th Anniversary production of Les Misérables.
Also joining the cast is David Essex who featured in the original album over 40 years ago as the The Artilleryman, Essex returns as The Voice of Humanity. David’s remarkable career boasts theatre, film, TV, concerts and records: 19 Top 40 UK Singles – including two Number Ones – and 16 Top 40 Albums.
Reimagined for its world stage premiere the iconic score is played live and conducted on stage by Jeff Wayne. The show includes new music composed especially for the West End production, and a full supporting company of performers. In addition to video walls, special effects and in sight and sound Liam Neeson as The Journalist, the iconic Martian Fighting Machine will be brought to spectacular theatrical life for the first time
The War of the Worlds will play a limited season from 8 February 2016 until 30 April 2016 at the Dominion Theatre.
