Bend It like Beckham, the screen to stage musical, is to close in the West End.
British film director Gurinder Chadha’s musical version of her hit 2002 movie Bend It Like Beckham, which opened to five and four star reviews in May 2015, has announced it will play its final performance at the Phoenix Theatre in March.
Gurinder Chadha said: “I am incredibly proud of the Bend It Like Beckham cast, musicians, production and creative teams. I set out to tell our stories from my perspective of our multicultural London. Our show celebrates all of us on stage and behind the scenes, something myself and the team worked so well together to realise.”
The West End cast is led by Natalie Dew (Jess) with Lauren Samuels (Jules) and Jamie Muscato who joined the production in December.
According to producers, talks are under way to finalise both national and international tours including a tour of India visiting multiple stadia.
Bend It Like Beckham’s final performance at the Phoenix Theatre will be on 5 March 2016.
