Broadway sensation The King and I rumoured for West End transfer

Bartlett Sher’s Tony Award winning revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King And I is rumoured for a West End transfer.

Sher’s production, currently playing at the Lincoln Centre’s Vivian Beaumont Theatre stars Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara as Anna and Hoon Lee as the King.  It is anticipated that O’Hara who won the 2015 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical will transfer with the production.

The King and I won four 2015 Tony Awards – Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actress in a Musical (Kelli O’Hara), Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Ruthie Ann Miles), and Best Costume Design of a Musical (Catherine Zuber).

Producers are rumoured to be in discussion for the production to play in a theatre on Drury Lane which means it will play either Drury Lane Theatre Royal, current home to hit musical Charlie and The Chocolate Factory or The New London Theatre.
