The Force of Destiny at the London Coliseum
The Force of Destiny is an action-packed drama of passion, war, honour and vengeance set during the 1930’s Spanish civil war. Directed by Calixto Bieito, this is ENO’s first new staging of Verdi’s opera in over 20 years.
ENO Music Director Mark Wigglesworth conducts Verdi’s sumptuous score, with a world-class cast including star tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones, baritone Anthony Michaels-Moore and the exciting soprano Tamara Wilson as Leonora.
STORY
From the opening notes of its famous overture, you’ll be drawn into The Force of Destiny’s powerful score as it follows the entwined destinies of the central characters. The youthful lovers Leonora and Alvaro have no idea that their feelings for each other will unleash a devastating chain of events as fate takes its inescapable grip on everyone’s lives. .
