The Commitments has announced it is to close in the West End
West End musical The Commitments has announced it is to close on 1 November 2015 after 2 years and over 1000 performances at the Palace Theatre. The London production will be followed by an extensive UK and Ireland tour in 2017.
Directed by the award-winning Jamie Lloyd, The Commitments was adapted for the stage by Booker Prize-winning Roddy Doyle from his original best-selling novel.
The show which opened to rave reviews is bursting with classic soul songs including I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Knock On Wood, Try A Little Tenderness and of course, Mustang Sally.
Producer Phil McIntyre said: “We’ve had a great run at the Palace Theatre and we now look forward to bringing the people’s musical to people across the UK & Ireland with our 2017 tour.”
