Book tickest for A Ghost in The Throat, a work-in-progress adaptation of one of Ireland’s most acclaimed recent literary debuts, at the Young Vic.
A Ghost in The Throat in London
Part of Shedinburgh Festival, in partnership with the Abbey Theatre, A Ghost in The Throat is an urgent new stage adaptation of one of Ireland’s most stunning recent literary debuts, the award-winning novel by Doireann Ní Ghríofa.
Adapted for the stage by Ursula Rani Sarma and directed by James Riordan, this work-in-progress showing offers audiences a rare early look at a new work from one of the most exciting writers across the UK and Ireland, developed as part of the Young Vic’s Shed Originals script development programme.
The story crosses centuries as it tells of one woman finding her voice by reaching into the past and summoning another’s. An Irish noblewoman in the 1700s and a young mother in the present day, both touched by and adjacent to tragedy, make unexpected contact as parallels between their lives emerge.
