New rehearsal images have been released of Beverley Knight and the cast of Sylvia: A Musical Revolution in rehearsals. The Olivier-nominated hip hop, funk and soul musical embarks on a UK tour this autumn before culminating in a historic five performance run at the Royal Albert Hall, once the political home of the suffragette movement.

Take a behind the scenes look at the cast of Sylvia: A Musical Revolution in rehearsals. The hit musical, which had a sell out world premiere at The Old Vic in 2023, sets out on a UK tour this autumn before arriving in London, where it will run at the Royal Albert Hall for five performances. Renowned singer-songwriter Beverley Knight MBE reprises her Olivier Award-winning role as Emmeline Pankhurst, alongside Naomi Katiyo (Hamilton, Just for One Day: The Live Aid Musical) as Sylvia Pankhurst.

The musical follows the fearless, flawed and unforgettable story of Emmeline Pankhurst’s rebellious middle child, Sylvia. While her mother and sister battled for women’s suffrage, Sylvia ignited a revolution for the forgotten: working women, the impoverished and the silenced. Caught between her family and her beliefs, Sylvia risked everything to bring change to millions.

A historic homecoming at the Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall played a defining role in the campaign for women’s suffrage, making the musical’s arrival a special way to honour that history. Between 1908 and 1913, the Hall hosted nearly thirty suffrage-related events, drawing overwhelmingly female audiences overseen by 200 white-uniformed women stewards, and was affectionately known by suffragettes as a “Temple of Liberty.” Following the intensification of militant tactics, Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters were banned from the venue, alongside the Women’s Social and Political Union, making the suffragettes the first political group ever barred from the Hall. The ban was lifted after the partial suffrage victory of 1918, and on 16 March that year the Hall hosted a special “Celebration of the Women’s Suffrage Victory” meeting addressed by Mrs Pankhurst and her daughter Christabel.

Sylvia will arrive at the historic London venue after a UK tour that includes stops at Leicester Curve (24 September – 3 October 2026), Birmingham Hippodrome (6–10 October 2026), Edinburgh Festival Theatre (13–17 October 2026), Salford Lowry (19–24 October 2026), Norwich Theatre Royal (27–31 October 2026) and Canterbury Marlowe Theatre (2–7 November 2026).
