The big new London production of Cole Porter’s glamorous musical High Society starts performances tonight (19 May 2026) at the Barbican Theatre in London.

The cast recently went on BBC’s The One Show to sing a number from the hit musical, including Helen George (Call the Midwife), Felicity Kendal (The Good Life), Freddie Fox (Slow Horses), Julian Ovenden (Bridgerton), and Carly Mercedes Dyer (Anything Goes).

High Society is playing at the Barbican Theatre for a limited season until 11 July 2026.

A swellegant cast

This new production of High Society – the first in London in a decade – boasts a cast led by Helen George (Call the Midwife, The King and I, Strictly Come Dancing) as Tracy Lord and Felicity Kendal (Indian Ink, Noises Off, The Good Life) as her mother, with Freddie Fox (Slow Horses, House of the Dragon) as Mike Connor, Julian Ovenden (Downton Abbey, Bridgerton) as Dexter Haven, Carly Mercedes Dyer (Anything Goes, A Chorus Line) as Liz Imbrie, Nigel Lindsay (Kiss Me, Kate, The Capture) as Uncle Willie, Malcolm Sinclair (Pie in the Sky) as Seth Lord, Naomi Pacquette as Dinah Lord, and David Seadon-Young (Oklahoma!) as George Kittredge.

The wider company includes James Hume, Bethany Adamson, David Austin-Barnes, Jabari Braham, George Bray, Andrew Coshan, Jordan Crouch, Frances Dee, Aaron Elijah, Tosca Fischer, Jacob Fisher, Heather Jackson, Aoife Kenny, Nell Martin, Isabel Snaas, Thomas Inge, Robin Kent, Imogen Bailey, and Lucy Rice.

The Cole Porter classic

This brand new production of High Society is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (Shadowlands) and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia!).

High Society has music and lyrics by Cole Porter, a book by Arthur Kopit, and additional lyrics by Susan Birkenhead, based on Philip Barry’s classic comedy.

The show features Cole Porter’s sensational score packed with classics such as “True Love,” “You’re Sensational,” “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and “Well, Did You Evah!”.
